NS 9415 Marine fish farms - Requirements for site survey, risk analysis, design, dimensioning, production, installation and operation is an important Norwegian Standard in the aquaculture industry.

A big problem with the Norwegian marine fish farms is the escaping of fish. In addition to being an economical problem, the escaped fish is a risk for the surrounding eco system. Fish from the marine fish farms, which are genetically different from the wild fish, may spawn with these and spread its tame fish genes.

Use this standard to reduce the risk of escape as a result of technical failure and wrong use of marine fish farms. The standard outlines requirements regarding design of marine fish farms and how it shall be documented, including calculation and planning rules.

NS 9415 Marine fish farms include requirements for all main components of marine fish farms, such as net pens, floating collars and rafts as well as requirements for functionality of the marine fish farm as a whole, including any extra equipment. A description is given of how marine fish farms shall be placed based on the site conditions at the given site. The Standard also sets requirements as to how marine fish farms shall be operated in order to be acceptably escape-proof.
