Standards for Atlantic Salmon

Several standards for the salmon industry are available in our online store. The standards specifies procedures of measuring colour and fat, for conducting measurement samples of characteristics affecting the quality, and specify reference degrees for trimming and skinning of Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar).

We refer to the standards

  • NS 9401 Atlantic Salmon - Reference sampling for quality assessment
  • NS 9402 Atlantic Salmon - Colour and fat measurement
  • NS 9404 Atlantic Salmon - Degrees of trimming and skinning of salmon fillet.

These Norwegian standards will ensure that samplings are carried out in an unambiguous and well-defined manner, measurement values for colour and fat can be compared and provide reference degrees for trimming and skinning of salmon fillet for use in production and trade.

All three standards are available in Norwegian, English (E), French (F), German (D) and Spanish (S).
