Scope of proposed project (copy from first listed document)

Subject of the proposed standard is the modelling of data in technical Building Services product catalogues. The Building Services products include the product categories for heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC).

The catalogues carry information about Building Services products from manufacturers to users – respectively to the users’ software systems. The information described by this standard is targeted to allow a software supported search and selection of components as well as the integration of product data into CAD/CAE tools for designing Building Services systems. The information about the products has to be suitable for the layout, the calculation and the simulation of Building Services systems in CAD/CAE systems.

To provide for such a deep description of the Building Services products, a number of resources are required, including:

- product classes and product properties for the appliance in the field of building services,

- geometric representations of products,

- description of operating characteristics and algorithms for the design of building services systems

The proposed standard will make use of existing elements of IFC and IFD and other buildingSMART standards, wherever possible, and where required, it will define additional resources.
