CEN, den europeiske standardiserings-organisasjonen, vurderer opprettelse av en standardiseringskomité for å utvikle europeisk standarder for innendørs solariumstjenester.
Det er skissert utvikling av to europeiske standarder. Den første vil det være en standard for opplæring av operatører og ansatte som jobber med innendørs solariumstjenester. Deretter er planen å lage en standard for etablering av krav til selve tjenesteleveransen.
Trenger vi en europeisk standard for krav til innendørs solariumstjenester samt opplæring av operatører og ansatte i solstudioer? Sikker bruk av solarium er avhengig av måten tjenesten tilbys på. Fokus på hygieniske aspekter, samt god kundeveiledning kan bidra til økt forbrukersikkerhet.
Utdrag fra bakgrunn og omfang for det planlagte arbeidet:
“Over the years, the quality and safety of sun beds and other artificial sunlight devices - without which an indoor sun exposure facility cannot operate – have improved substantially. Nevertheless, the safe use of sun beds is also dependent on the way the service is provided. Particularly important are the hygienic aspects and the way in which consumers are informed about the proper use, including advice on indoor sun exposure schemes for their skin type. The development of European Standards on the service provision of sun exposure services will therefore contribute to consumer protection.
A first standard dealing with the assessment of the indoor sun exposure consultant, which provides information and advice to the consumers using these services, and a second one establishing requirements for the provision of services of tanning facilities. Priority will be given to the development of the standard dealing with the training of the consultants.“
Det er Østerrike som har fremmet forslaget om et europeisk standardiseringsprosjekt innenfor dette feltet og de vil også lede prosjektet.
Som bakgrunn finnes allerede østeriske standarder innenfor dette feltet, samt en opplæringsmanual for operatører fra European Sunlight Association (ESA).
