Living quarters area (2022)
This NORSOK standard definesthe requirements for the architectural design, engineering and development of the living quarters (LQ) area on offshore installations in the petroleum industry. The standard is primarily applicable to fixed installations, but can also be used for mobile installations for which, however, other requirements may be applicable.
The main changes from the 2015 edition are as follows:
- general reformatting
- inclusion of hygenic measures
- inclusion of operational experience feedback from recent offshore projects
- revised section related to scope
- revised section related to cabin area
- revised sections related to administration area and control centers
- “operations room” deleted
- revised section related to helicopter hangar
- revised section related to technical shafts
- deleted requirement for central vacuum cleaning system
- deleted requirement for solarium and sauna
- deleted requirement for internet café
- new Annex B.2: periodically manned LQ
- new Annex B.3: shelter and temporary refuge area
- new Annex C: ergonomic requirements for furniture and work stations
