NORSOK M-001 - New Corrigendum and Amendment for design of dissimilar metal connections
A corrigendum (AC) and a new Annex B to NORSOK M-001 from 2014 are developed in order to provide updated technical solutions based on field experience in order to reduce risk of galvanic corrosion for connections of dissimilar metals.
NORSOK M-001:2014 Material selection provides guidance and requirements for material selection and corrosion protection for hydrocarbon production, and processing facilities and supporting systems for fixed offshore installations including subsea production systems, and covers:
- Corrosion and material selection evaluations
- Specific material selection where appropriate
- Corrosion protection and corrosion control
- Design limitations for specific materials
- Qualification requirements for new materials or new applications
Corrigendum NORSOK M-001:2014/AC:2021
As a result of gained field experience Clause 4.10 Galvanic corrosion protection has been corrected in the 5th paragraph. Old text is deleted and new text has been added. The change is published in this new corrigendum. When the next edition of M-001 is published, the change will be implemented in the standard.
Annex NORSOK M-001:2014/A1:2021
A new, informative annex, NORSOK M-001:2014/A1:2021 Amendment Material selection – Annex B (informative) Implementation and use of the standard - Guidance for design of dissimilar metal connections, is added to the standard.
In order to support the corrigendum a new, informative Annex B, describing "best practice" and guidance for design of dissimilar metal connections with figures and text has been developed.
The informative annex will be implemented in the standard when the next edition of M-001 is published.
The corrigendum and the new Annex B are developed by the expert committee SN/K 114 EG M.
